Libero Mureddu
Hi! I am Libero, an improviser, composer, music technologist, and educator originally from Milan but based in Helsinki since two decades.
I spend my time performing in different projects, researching improvisation, and teaching at the Sibelius Academy. When I’m travelling around Europe you’ll find me most likely on a train, as I have been a dedicated rail traveller since 2013.

Rumeik duo (Mureddu - Eikmeier) live in Lübeck
22 Juni 26 : Impro-Konzert / 19:30 Uhr / Hutkasse@kunsttankstelle_defactoart Wallstrasse 3-5, 23560 Lübeck Corinna Eikmeier (Cello) und Libero Mureddu (Klavier) lernten sich 2024 kennen, als sie beide bei einem internationalen Improvisationsworkshop in Antwerpen unterrichteten. Im folgenden Jahr spielten sie erneut in Helsinki und Berlin und beschlossen, ihre Zusammenarbeit fortzusetzen. Ihr Ansatz zur improvisierten Musik ist stark von Unerwartetem und Unvorhersehbarem geprägt. Manchmal sind in den Klängen leise Anklänge an das westliche klassische Cello-Klavier-Duo zu hören

Recording 'Approaching the Horizon' is published!
Recorded some time ago in Tallinn, Estonia, this album unfolds like a conversation at the edge of silence, where sound becomes texture, and texture becomes emotion. Three voices meet here: Libero Mureddu (piano and FXs), Anto Pett (piano), and Gon Muruaga (electric guitar and FXs), each tracing their own path while dissolving into a shared sonic landscape.The three of us have collaborated on different projects over the years, and recording this album was something we had been planning for a long time. Now it is finally out! It has been an amazing experience, and you are invited to explore the depths of this musical journey

‘Cyborg, avatar, virtual’ workshop in Tampere
Today 13.5 at 18:00 we’ll present the work done during the ‘Cyborg, avatar, virtual’ workshop, held at Tampere university during the past two weeks! I had the pleasure to make sounds for one of the worlds (not visible here as I was always playing…), and realise some of my ideas, or fantasies, on how to interconnect sounds, performers, avatars, and improvisation (tldr, lots of OSC messages running across multiple computers and software 😅🤖).Lots of fun working with many wonderful colleagues and students, and very happy to have spent here many long days and evenings!

METRIC IP '26 in Lübeck
It was such an amazing experience at the Metric IP 26 in Lübeck! The academy is such a welcoming and warm place, even though it is a real labyrinth where it is incredibly easy to get lost. The level of the students was very high, and it was truly inspiring to listen to them and, of course, to work with them
